Is Real Time Marketing in your future?
Share |

In fact I would argue it is here today.

Take a look at one of my last post on Hey Marketer - When was the last time you talked with a customer??

And then ask yourself – how long did some of those interactions take. For Example - We resolved the issue for the person below in 15 minutes! When is the last time you baked up a marketing plan, executed it, got the reaction and closed the whole thing off in 15 minutes!

I always felt marketing needed serious lead time to ramp up on any major strategic shift.

But over the last few years (including last year’s recession marketing) we didn’t have months to plan. My old boss used to say to me “none of our Financial Services customers are waiting to fix their mortgage exposure issues – they are diving in right now and we can’t wait 45 days to put on a brilliant webinar on How to Solve Today’s Mortgage Crisis – we need to do it right now!” Followed by “if you had a /> [...]

The Google Redesigns That Could've Been
Share |

Google Senior User Experience Designer Jon Wiley posted an explanation of the new Google redesign from a design perspective today. He talks about how other elements of the Google experience were made simpler to lighten the load as the left panel got more complex.

In Google's quest to find the right design balance (they've been testing various left-hand navigation schemes as far back as 2006, he says), there were some throw away ideas. While I'm sure there were way more than this, he shares a few of them:

NADA Convention: TK Carsites to Hold Social Media Seminars
Share |

With the NADA Convention in Orlando happening this weekend, TK Carsites is proud to be putting on 5 social media related workshops. KPA and TK Carsites will be hosting them at the NADA exhibit hall in room W102A (one level down from the expo floor).

Social Media is the “hot topic” in automotive marketing right now. Millions of people are using sites like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and blogs to engage with businesses and individuals and the automotive industry is ripe to get involved. As with most trends, there are vendors selling “hype over quality” and as a result, TK Carsites is offering these educational (NO PITCHING INVOLVED) 30-minute workshops to help dealers navigate through the bad parts of social media to find the true benefits and rewards.

Food and beverages will be available at these workshops. We encourage everyone attending the NADA Convention to stop by and learn the “why and how” of social media and other aspects of automotive Internet marketing.

Saturday, February 13th, NADA Convention Room W102A

You might not have thought much about how your bank treats you. In a world of drive-through windows and automated teller machines, you might not even think about what kind of relationship you have with your bank You take for granted that its policies are more important than who you are, but does it have to be that way? Ben Cooper says no. Ben is the Vice President of Marketing for Think Finance, responsible for marketing for all of their products, including online marketing, offline marketing and brand development. I recently met Ben at the Search Insider Summit conference in Florida and thought you'd be interested in his take on what some traditional businesses are doing wrong in their customer relationships--in this case, banks.

Me: For readers who don't know about Think Finance, how would you describe it?

BC: Think Finance develops next generation financial products that help people manage life's everyday expenses. Consumers choose our products because they provide more convenience, speed, ease of use, and transparency. We operate three brands today
